Local governments can receive information when applying for grants for preserving local documents and records at a workshop today at the Southeast Regional Conservation Center in Cape Girardeau County Park.

From 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the secretary of state's office is providing the workshop, which is one of 13 regional workshops, to discover and preserve important parts of Missouri's history and heritage.

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan said the goal of the workshop is to help local governments identify historical significant documents and apply for funding to preserve them.
