Anyone interested in teaching someone to read can volunteer to work with the literacy program at the Adult Learning Center.

A volunteer training session for the program will be April 29 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. It will be held in room 214 at the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School.

Reservations should be made before April 24 since space is limited to about 25 people, said Marsha Birk, literacy coordinator for the center. Call 334-3669 to register.

The program is open to anyone interested in helping someone learn to read or speak English, Birk said. About 20 people currently volunteer with the program.
