Dr. Fred E. Rawlins will cap off the success he enjoyed during the Senior Olympics regional competition in St. Louis with a ritual he has observed for five decades : swimming across the Mississippi River.
The 75-year-old obsetetrician and gynecologist will observe his annual ritual on Saturday during Riverfest weekend.
Rawlins finished fourth in the Senior Olympics 50-yard freestyle with a time of 43.43. He was second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:25.65. The Cape physician was first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 9:43.97.
