Bringing 18 years of health care administration experience to the job, Jan Rau was recently named administrator of the Missouri Veterans Home at Cape Girardeau by Anne Payne, superintendent of homes for the Missouri Veterans Commission's central office in Jefferson City, Mo.
Rau, who started in her new position earlier this month, has served as a medical and clinical social worker, admissions coordinator and administrator in long-term care facilities.
She has a bachelor of social work degree from the University of Illinois, a master's in health services administration from Southwest Baptist University, and a fellowship from St. Louis University's Public Health and Leadership Institute.
Prior to accepting this Veterans Home appointment, Rau served as assistant bureau chief with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in the Division of Maternal, Child and Family Health.
The Missouri Veterans Home at Cape Girardeau is a 150-bed facility, one of seven in Missouri.
Rau replaced Sam McVay, who retired in October.
