CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Most creeks were nearly full around the area Saturday night after a day of heavy rain. More is in the forecast.

Most of Southeast Missouri was under a flash-flood watch Saturday night with additional rain expected for today and the early part of the week.

Midwest Weather Inc. at Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport reported at 8 p.m. Saturday that 1.82 inches of rain had fallen since midnight. Between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., 1.38 inches fell.

Since Thursday afternoon, 2.59 inches had been recorded at the airport.

Law enforcement officials in the area all reported steady rain Saturday and, with more rain forecast, were keeping a close watch on creeks for possible flash flooding.
