LINCOLN, Neb. -- Union Pacific Railroad will transfer more than 1,000 workers from St. Louis to its new headquarters in Omaha, the company announced Tuesday. The company had originally planned to add about 600 employees, but decided to transfer an additional 300 information technology workers, said Union Pacific chairman and CEO Dick Davidson. The 1,038 jobs coming to Nebraska from St. Louis include the 300 information technology workers plus accounting, finance and customer service employees. Union Pacific currently has about 5,000 workers in Missouri.
