Cape Girardeau Central High School assistant principal Leigh Ragsdale will replace Ron Farrow as principal of Franklin Elementary this fall, district spokeswoman Dana Saverino confirmed Tuesday.

Ragsdale, one of three assistant principals at Central, has been in her current position since 2015. She also was instrumental in starting the CT Kindness initiative at the high school.

She previously worked in service learning and community outreach programs, taught communication arts for six years and coached the varsity dance team for a decade.

Farrow served as Franklin Elementary principal since 2015, when he replaced Rhonda Dunham.

Assistant superintendent Neil Glass said all three assistant principal positions at the high school need to be filled, and more than 30 applicants are being considered.

Ragsdale being named Franklin principal gives her the opportunity to “continue her good work serving students,” Glass said, “[including] her wealth of knowledge and skill serving at-risk students, especially.”

“She’s a versatile administrator who dives into everything and does a great job,” he said.

Farrow announced his departure in this month’s Franklin newsletter.

“Many of you may be unaware that I commute from Farmington, MO, every day. While it has been an absolute joy to work with the staff, students and families here at Franklin over the last two years, I have accepted a Principal position closer to home for next school year,” he wrote.
