Who wants a Fat-Boy? Kim Weber of Perryville, Mo., did. And he got one as the winner of a 2005 Harley-Davidson anniversary motorcycle called the Fat-Boy.
His name was announced at center stage in downtown Cape Girardeau during the recent HOG Rally held here.
The bike was donated by Minor's Harley-Davidson of Scott City. Tickets for the bike were sold at the Kenny Rogers Children's Center 25th annual telethon last spring.
Proceeds for the motorcycle raffle came to $25,500 and were donated to Sikeston-based Kenny Rogers Children's Center.
No family is ever charged for the services they receive for physical, occupational and speech therapy at the children's center, which serves 300 from Cape Girardeau, Perry, Scott, New Madrid, Butler, Mississippi, Stoddard, Dunklin and Pemiscot counties.
Minor's Harley-Davidson owners, Sonny and Barb Minor, donated the bike for KRCC to raise as much money as possible, although the amount raised doesn't cover the expense of the bike.
"We do it to help the kids and it's a good place. We've always raised money for many organizations. We like the center because the money stays local and supports kids in our own communities," said Sonny Minor.
Michelle Fayette, KRCC executive director, said "We have worked with them [Minor's Harley-Davidson] over the last three years and this year alone, Minor's Harley-Davidson and the SEMO HOG Chapter have raised over $37,000 for the center. Their lifetime donation to the center is just over $85,000 -- that is a substantial impact in our communities."
