JACKSON -- The Auxiliary of Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Southeast Missouri will present the second biannual quilt show Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The show will be held at St. Paul Lutheran school gymnasium on West Adams Street.
Internationally recognized quilt designer, Laura Crewes Lewis, will work on her current quilt in the morning and discuss her work. At 1:30 p.m. she will speak on "What Quilt Show Judges Look For," followed by a question and answer period.
Alice Fisher will display part of her collection of quilt blocks made from the famous patterns featured in the Kansas City Star newspaper in the early years of this century. She will be available for questions during the day.
Nancy Pleiman will demonstrate a technique for machine applique which is indistinguishable from hand applique, and she will be available for observation and questions. Oleen Saffel will demonstrate speed piecing and other local quilters will work throughout the day.
Tickets to the show are $2.
Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Southeast Missouri is a mission of the Lutheran churches, providing counseling to individuals, couples, children, families. The agency offers an adoptive family support group and a care givers support group. Offices are located at 2911 Breckenridge in Cape Girardeau.
