CAPE GIRARDEAU -- "Quilts in Women's Lives," a seminar on the history of quilt-making, will be held Friday at the Southeast Missouri State University Center.
Sponsored by the university and Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts, the seminar begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m.
Several speakers will present segments on "Prize-Winning Quilts," "Kansas City Star Patterns" and "Introduction to Local Guilds."
A film, "Quilts in Women's Lives," will describe quilting as an art form which has sprung from daily life and allows the artisan the joy of making a pattern of self-expression and creative meaning in their lives.
Quilts from the River Heritage Quilters Guild will also be on display and various quilting techniques will be demonstrated.
A fee of $2 per person will be charged for the day-long seminar. Lunch will be available in the cafeteria and reserved parking is available on the adjacent lot. Elevator service to the seminar is also available.
