JACKSON -- The auxiliary of the Lutheran Family and Children's Service of Southeast Missouri will sponsor the SEMO Quilt Show on Saturday, Sept. 7. The show will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church gymnasium, 223 W. Adams, in Jackson.
The quilt show will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature various types of quilts on loan from quilters throughout Southeast Missouri. Show attendees will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite quilt.
A special feature of the show will be lectures and demonstrations by notable quilters Laura Crews Lewis and Nancy Pleimann, and an ongoing demonstration of strip quilting by Oleen Saffel.
At 11 a.m., Pleimann, a specialist in applique quilting and owner of Uniquely Sew quilt shop, will demonstrate four different methods of hand applique. She will answer questions about both hand and machine applique.
At 2 p.m., Lewis, who has won international awards for her quilts will talk with quilters and answer questions. She will also display nine of her quilts.
Admission to the show is $1.50 per person.
