Zonnya White, a senior at Purdue University majoring in industrial engineering who will graduate magna cum laude May 8, has been selected as a participant in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program.

The program is financially supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States under the authority of the Fullbright-Hays Act of 1961 and the German Bundestag. The one-year work-study exchange program is designed to strengthen ties between both countries.

During their year in the Federal Republic of Germany, American exchange students will have the opportunity to improve their career skills through intensive language instruction and personal contact with Germans.

The program begins in July 1992 and ends in July 1993. It has three parts: German language study, classroom instruction at a German institution of higher learning, and placement in an internship with a German company in the student's field.

White, valedictorian of the Cape Girardeau Central High School class of 1987, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob White.
