At this morning's Cape Girardeau County Commission meeting, Commissioner Jay Purcell said he planned on attending tonight's peripheral zoning informational meeting. Purcell is the district 2 commissioner and represents the city of Cape Girardeau. Purcell has stated he is against the city's request for peripheral zoning.
Other county officials could not say with certainty they would attend, but they would try to make the meeting.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the East County Fire Station, 4564 County Road 621. It is being organized by Jim Goggin, a landowner and business owner who would be affected if the city's request for peripheral zoning is granted by the commission.
