Public hearing on Fruitland rest areas set for Thursday

The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing Thursday to discuss converting the Fruitland rest areas to commercial vehicle parking. The meeting will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau. It will have an open-house format, so visitors can stop by to talk with a member of the project team at any time. No formal presentation will be given. The project involves demolition of each rest area facility and construction of commercial vehicle parking, including a vault-type rest room.
