PROMPT CARE LIVES UP TO ITS NAME

The ever-growing business and residential districts along East Jackson Boulevard now have quick, handy access to health care in a convenient location.

Prompt Care, a walk-in medical clinic, opened its doors Oct. 9, at its Jackson Boulevard location across from Burger King and the old Wal-Mart site.

Prompt Care is a service of Heartland Family Physicians next door and has 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. hours Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. It is staffed by Dr. Ramiro Icaza and Dr. Christopher Compton."We've been doing great," said Dianne Icaza. "We've seen quite a few sick people and a few have come in with injuries. We've had to give some stitches."

Prompt Care offers minor emergency treatment, as well as sports and job physicals, X-rays and lab tests. Flu shots are also given there. The staff gave about 150 flu shots in 90 minutes last week, before running out of vaccine. Icaza said she hopes more will be in shortly.
