The Missouri Department of Transportation released a list of projects Friday that could receive funding if voters in August approve a sales tax increase dedicated to transportation.
The state Highways and Transportation Commission is accepting public comments on the projects, which together are estimated to cost $4.8 billion. A look at some of the projects:
Widen to three lanes in each direction between suburban Kansas City and suburban St. Louis.
Improvements between Lindbergh Boulevard and Missouri 367 in north St. Louis County to address safety and congestion problems.
Add eastbound lane between Missouri 141 and Clarkson Road in west St. Louis County. Add lanes from Missouri K to I-70.
Improvements for freight would be completed at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Work would be completed at airports in Kirksville, Lee's Summit, Jefferson City, Camdenton, Lebanon, Osage Beach, Monett, Clinton, Joplin, Neosho, Poplar Bluff and West Plains.
Funding would be contributed to repair the Merchants railroad bridge across the Mississippi River in St. Louis, and bottlenecks would be removed in Bonnots Mill. Work would be done to connections at the Kansas City, SEMO and New Bourbon ports.
