Project Impact and several area businesses helped install window film on the Headstart Day Care Center during National Make A Difference Day Saturday. The film is designed to help prevent glass from shattering during an earthquake.

Project Impact, Solar Control, Enpro Distributing, the East Missouri Action Agency and Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center joined together on the project.

Enpro Distributing and Solar Control are working as part of a national program to protect day-care centers in disasters. The film was supplied by Enpro and Solar Control installed it.

Most injuries treated after an earthquake are caused from glass fragments, said Terry Fulk, Project Impact Coordinator for Cape Girardeau.

The window film, similar to window tinting, is also available for residents.
