The Cape Girardeau Jaycees are collecting Christmas toys and gifts to be delivered to the city's needy children and elderly. Donations are accepted at the Southeast Missourian offices and other locations around town. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702-0004.
Toybox
A family of three children ages 9, 4 and 1 1/2 have some special requests for Santa this year. The oldest boy wants a new truck and Matchbox cars. He'd also like some Legos sets to build and play with. His 4-year-old brother also likes Legos and other "boy toys" appropriate for his age. Their sister is only a toddler, so stuffed animals and musical toys are good gifts for her.
Elderly
Mrs. Q. has congestive heart failure and uses a wheeled walker. She could use gift certificates for meals delivered through the Senior Center and some basic toiletries. She also would like a new housecoat in size small to medium and stamps for mailing bills. Gift certificates to discount and grocery stores also are helpful. Ms. R. would like a new winter coat in size XL, some pant and sweatshirts in that same size and two new pillows for her bed. Dog toys and food would be great gifts for her small pet as well.
