A Southeast Missouri State University professor has co-authored a book designed to assist families and service providers in making decisions about assistive technology devices for children with disabilities.
Dr. Phil Parette co-authored the book, "Assistive Technology for Young Children with Disabilities: A Guide to Family-Centered Services."
Parette is a professor of elementary, early and special education.
Brookline of Cambridge, Mass., recently published the book. Sharon Lesar Judge of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville co-authored the book.
"We're hoping that professionals and families will find it to be a helpful tool when making decisions and when faced with scarce fiscal resources," said Parette.
Assistive technology includes everything from low-tech to high-tech devices, he said.
Such devices range from foam pencil grips to electronic communications devices.
