ULLIN, Ill. -- A Shawnee Community College graduate will be featured speaker at the college's annual honor banquet, to be held tonight.
Jak Tichenor, a former resident of Metropolis, now a producer at WSIU-Television at Carbondale, will address more than 180 students who will be recognized for academic achievement. The honor banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the college gymnasium.
Tichenor is responsible for writing and producing local programs at WSIU, including "SIU Connections," a monthly program focusing on activities and issues at SIU. He is a 1976 graduate of Shawnee College. He received a bachelor's degree in Radio/Television and a master's degree in Public-Visual Communications from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
