Kelly M. O'Neil of Cape Girardeau and Deanna K. Schoenherr of Frohna are among winners of the 1992 Procter & Gamble Fund scholarship.
From the 356 semifinalists, 127 candidates were awarded a college scholarship. O'Neil and Schoenherr are children of Cape Girardeau P&G employees.
O'Neil, a 1992 graduate of Central High School, was a member of the National Honor Society, Red Dagger Club, International Thespian Society and the Central High School Concert Band. She was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students, was Rotary Club Student of the Month and was a commended student in the National Merit Scholarship qualifying test. She plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and is the daughter of Dan and Mary O'Neil of Cape Girardeau.
Schoenherr, a 1992 graduate of Perryville High School, was a member of Perryville High School Varsity Band, Scholar Bowl, I DARE gifted class, Foreign Language Club and National Honor Society. She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Senior Choir, was named to Who's Who Among America High School Students for two years and received the United State Achievement Academy National Foreign Language Award.
She was an exchange student to Germany in the summer of 1991. She will be employed at Procter & Gamble for the summer and plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Dan and Kathline Schoenherr of Frohna.
The Procter & Gamble Fund Scholarship Program awards college scholarships based on the candidates' academic achievements, leadership skills, accomplishments outside the classroom and school recommendations to outstanding students from around the country who are children of P&G employees.
Each scholarship provides the winner with $1,000 to $3,000 per year for up to four years of full-time study at an accredited college or university.
