CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Two employees were shot Sunday at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in what is believed to be a murder-suicide, Department of Corrections director Larry Crawford said. Few details were available early Sunday evening, but Crawford said it appears the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. He said he was told the incident happened between 3 and 3:30 p.m., involving two newer members of the staff at the women's prison, one of two in the state that house female inmates.
"The institution is under lockdown, but there have been no issues with inmates," Crawford said.
Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox was scheduled to provide more information on the shooting after family members of the victims were notified, Crawford said.
