CAIRO, Ill. -- A preliminary hearing has been set for the former Thebes, Ill., police officer who faces misconduct charges for allegedly releasing a person from custody in exchange for sexual favors.
Terry Crowe, 39, of Mounds, Ill., will be in court at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 for a preliminary hearing before Judge Mark H. Clarke, according to the Alexander County Circuit Clerk's office. Crowe is being represented in court by Shane Aden, a public defender.
Crowe was arrested in July by the Illinois State Police and charged with two counts of official misconduct. Crowe was being investigated for a year before his arrest and Thebes Mayor John Kennedy, also acting police chief, suspended Crowe while the investigation was pending. Crowe resigned a week after his suspension.
Crowe was released from the Hardin County Sheriff's Department on a $100,000 bond.
