PRAYER BREAKFAST TO BE HELD APRIL 7

Mayors of Cape Girardeau and Jackson will sponsor the 10th annual Mayors' Prayer Breakfast April 7, featuring motivational speaker Ted DeMoss.

The breakfast is a project of the Christian Business Men's Committee of Cape Girardeau. It will be held at the Show Me Center at 7 a.m. Doors open at 6:30 a.m.

Tickets cost $8.75 each. Tables of eight are available. Mail reservations to Mayors' Prayer Breakfast, P.O. Box 2017, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702-2017.

The breakfast has grown from an attendance the first year of about 350 people to about 1,500 last year. A similar turnout is expected this year, said Dr. Bill Terry of the committee.

DeMoss is a businessman from Chattanooga, Tenn. He has served as president of the Christian Business Men's Committee of USA for over 14 years.

For 29 years DeMoss worked in his family insurance business. At one time he supervised 29 offices in five states with more than 100 salesmen.

Today he is a speaker for the Christian Business Men's Committee. He flies a twin-engine plane to many of his engagements, averaging more than 100,000 miles per year.

He and his wife have three children and nine grandchildren. DeMoss is author of the book "The Gospel and the Briefcase."

Terry said DeMoss will speak about the realities of life. "It's not a sermon; it's from a businessman's perspective," said Terry.

Terry said the Christian Business Men's Committee is a group of local business and professional men who encourage Christian ethics in the lives of people in positions of leadership. In addition to the prayer breakfast, the committee sponsors quarterly luncheons and Bible studies.
