SIKESTON --Traffic is moving on Interstate 55 at mile marker 67 near Sikeston, Mo., though slowly.

Power lines fell over the road Tuesday night, forcing MoDOT to close the road for a brief time. Traffic is now moving, with cars going over the power lines slowly, said a MoDOT representative.

The following roads were closed as the result of downed powerlines:

Pemiscot County

Interstate 155, between northbound I-55 and Highway 84 east; and from I-55 to southbound Route Y, until at least 9 a.m.

MoDOT has indicated driving is treacherous and advises that people should avoid it.

Plow drivers are having difficulty navigating the slippery streets and seeing in the sometimes blinding snowfall. 

Mississippi County

Route BB entire length of the route near East Prairie

Route UU entire length of route two miles south of Charleston

New Madrid County

Route 153 and County Road 250
