Considering a new job? The U.S. Post Office is compiling a list of prospective new employees.
The Postal Service Battery Examination will be open for residents in the Bootheel from June 6-10. People who live in the following zip codes are eligible to take the exam: 636, 637, 638, and 639.
The exam was last given three years ago. More than 7,000 people applied and 3,500 took the exam. Most employees for the 152 post offices in the Bootheel will be hired from a registry of individuals who take the exam.
Cape Girardeau Postmaster Michael Keefe said up to 10,000 applicants are possible for this testing cycle because it includes a larger geographic area.
Anyone interested in taking the exam may pick up an application at any post office from 8 a.m. to 430 p.m. Applications are also available at Missouri Job Service offices in Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff and Kennett.
