President Bush has signed legislation renaming the Cape Girardeau U.S. Mail Processing and Distribution Facility in honor of Korean War hero Richard G. Wilson. U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Missouri, announced Monday that an event will be planned later this fall to commemorate the renaming. Wilson, of Cape Girardeau, was killed in action Oct. 21, 1950, at the age of 19 when his unit came under attack near Opari, Korea. Wilson was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1951.
