GORDONVILLE -- Dan Kern of New Hamburg is the new postmaster at Gordonville.
Kern succeeds Patty Matlock, who served as officer-in-charge of the Gordonville Post Office until a postmaster was named. Matlock has resumed her former position as postmaster leave replacement at Gordonville.
Kern took the oath of office Nov. 10 from Mary Jane Jenkins, postal systems coordinator.
Kern began his postal career at the Chaffee Post Office as a part-time flexible clerk in September 1977. He became a regular full-time clerk in 1981. He served as officer-in-charge at Lutesville and Marble Hill, and was detailed to the Jackson Post Office as supervisor of postal operations. he was promoted to postmaster at Anniston in May 1991.
He and his wife, Deborah, have six children.
