A Poplar Bluff man pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court Friday to distributing cocaine base.

James Jackson, 30, entered guilty pleas to two felony counts of distribution of cocaine base during an appearance before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel. Sentencing was set for Aug. 7.

U.S. Attorney Audrey G. Fleissig reported that Jackson admitted he sold cocaine base to a confidential informant on Aug. 5 and to an undercover officer on Sept. 21.

He faces a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1 million on each count, said Fleissig.
