Poplar Bluff woman appointed to term on Southeast regents board

Gail Robertson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., has been appointed to a six-year term on the Board of Regents at Southeast Missouri State University.

Gov. Bob Holden appointed Robertson to a term that will expire on Jan. 1, 2009. Her appointment is expected to be confirmed by the Missouri Senate.

Robertson replaces Kim Mothershead of Benton, Mo., whose term expired on Jan. 1.

Robertson, 34, teaches social studies and English at Poplar Bluff High School.

"Gail, like so many teachers in Missouri, has dedicated her life to the improvement of our state's students," Holden said. "Her expertise will be a great asset to Southeast Missouri State University."

Robertson is a graduate of Southeast. She was named 2002 Teacher of the Year by the Poplar Bluff School District. In 1997, she was Poplar Bluff's high school teacher of the year.
