POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Already on probation, a Poplar Bluff man may face new charges after he allegedly fired shots Friday night in a residential neighborhood.
"A witness came by the station and reported shots being fired by a guy named 'Bryce,' with a yellow shirt on," explained Poplar Bluff police chief Danny Whiteley. " They said there were approximately three shots fired from a black handgun, described as a revolver."
The shots, Whiteley said, were reported to have been fired at a residence on the "very south end of Garfield. Bryce [Deshane] Davis came up on foot [to that location] and fired approximately three rounds off, basically up in the air, but in close proximity to other people."
Whiteley described the group as dispersing quickly, and said as officers were converging on Fifth Street, patrolman Dusty Johnson saw Davis.
According to his report, Johnson found a group of several males in the middle of Fifth Street, in front of a residence in the 400 block.
Johnson said he recognized Davis, who was wearing a yellow sweat shirt, which matched the description officers had been given.
Davis, 18, of the 1700 block of Illinois Street, was arrested at 10:24 p.m. on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action.
Davis, who was placed on five years' supervised probation in August after pleading guilty to the Class C felony of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, was booked at the Butler County jail, awaiting the filing of formal charges.
