SIKESTON, Mo. -- Police are searching for a 19-year-old Sikeston man in connection with a shooting that left another man in critical condition Thursday.
Adrian Jones of 229 S. Scott is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon following the discovery of a bleeding, 20-year-old man at 407 Dorothy Wednesday evening.
Police went to the residence on Dorothy following a report by neighbors of shots being fired, said detective Sgt. Michael Williams. They found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center and remained in critical condition Thursday following surgery.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown, Williams said.
"We haven't been able to talk with the victim yet, so we don't have a lot of specific details," he said.
Investigators spoke with witnesses at the scene, which led to issuing warrants for Jones' arrest.
Some evidence was collected at the house, including a mashed, spent bullet that police think is related to Wednesday's shooting. All evidence was sent to the Southeast Missouri Crime Lab for analysis.
Jones' bond has been set at $500,000, Williams said.
