JACKSON -- In a continuing effort to buy a canine unit for the Jackson Police Department, Detective Richard Rushin and the rest of the department are trying to raise $25,000.
Rushin estimates it will cost that much in the first year to purchase and train the dog, customize a vehicle for it and purchase food and equipment.
Rushin said he would be willing to speak to local organizations interested in the fund-raising effort. Requests or donations may be mailed to: Jackson Police Department, Canine Fundraiser, 525 S. Hope St., Jackson.
