A Cape Girardeau man already wanted on outstanding warrants is being sought after he allegedly sped away and eluded police during a traffic stop.
Joseph M. Reddick, 37, is believed to have been the driver of a vehicle stopped by a Cape Girardeau sheriff's deputy on Route K west of Cape Girardeau shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday. As the deputy approached the vehicle, a passenger jumped out and ran away while driver drove away.
Ricky Kenneth Hunter, 35, of Chaffee was apprehended. He was wanted on a Chaffee warrant for failure to appear in court for driving with a suspended license and having expired plates. He also had a Butler County warrant against him for failure to appear in court for driving with a suspended license.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol helped conduct a search for Reddick. He remained at large Wednesday night.
He is wanted as a parole absconder and on warrants for misdemeanor assault, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and property damage.
Additional charges are pending against both men.
