A grab-and-run robber eluded Cape Girardeau police Thursday after taking cash from a discount store.
A white man, 20 to 30 years old, grabbed money from a cash register at the Dollar General Store, 64 S. Plaza Way, early Thursday evening. He was last seen running around the rear of the store chased by pursuing store employees, officer Richard Harris said.
Officers dispatched to the area were unable to locate the suspect.
Employees told police the man was wearing a brown shirt, blue jean shorts and a baseball cap at the time of the theft, Harris said.
The suspect had short hair and a mustache, employees told police.
The man took twenties and tens from the drawer before a female employee shut the cash register on his hand, Harris said.
Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call Cape Girardeau Police at 335-6621 or CrimeStoppers at 332-0500.
