Police say a 36-year-old man shot and killed himself Thursday night after officers initiated a traffic stop following a reported domestic dispute. Police were called to a domestic dispute on Old Toll Road in Jackson about 8:44 p.m. and were advised that a man left the home in his vehicle and was armed. Officers found the man's vehicle a few hundred yards from the home on Old Toll Road. As officers approached the vehicle, they heard a single gunshot coming from inside the vehicle, Lt. Rodney Barnes said. They arrived to find Gary W. Matlock Jr. with a gunshot wound to the head. Matlock was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff at 10:22 p.m.
