Police are investigating a shooting at 4:15 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Sprigg Street.
According to a news release issued by the Cape Giårardeau Police Department, officers found a man with a bullet wound to his upper abdomen.
According to the release, the victim that he had been walking on William Street near Benton Street when someone approached him and demanded money.
Police were told the suspect punched the victim in the face and shot him. The victim said he did not recall anything for the next several minutes.
