Public safety officials in Arnold, Mo., have disclosed details about a weekend car accident involving Southeast Missouri State University women's basketball coach John Ishee.
The crash occurred in the early morning hours Sunday at the intersection of Missouri Highway 141 and Interstate 55 near Arnold, Mo., according to Kevin Grimshaw of the Rock Township Community Fire Protection District.
Grimshaw described the accident as a "T-bone" type of crash, with a side impact collision occurring when Ishee's vehicle was making a turn.
Ishee was transported to St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis with what Southeast assistant coach Chris Harris said were not serious injuries.
Harris said Monday that Ishee appeared to be recovering well from the accident.
The initial police report made no mention of alcohol being a contributing factor to the accident, and neither driver is suspected of driving while intoxicated, said Lt. Robert Wiland of the Arnold Police Department.
There were no passengers in either vehicle other than the drivers, Wiland said.
"It would appear that one of the motorists may have run a stop sign," Wiland said.
Wiland declined to comment on which motorist may have been at fault for the crash, citing the traffic division's ongoing investigation.
Citations may be issued as a result of the accident, he said.
Ishee is currently on sick leave from the university, according to Ann Hayes, spokeswoman for Southeast.
