SIKESTON, Mo. — The name of one of the suspects arrested in connection with an early Saturday morning stabbing in Sikeston has been released.

Police said Karlos R. Draper, 42, was one of two arrested in the incident. As of press time, he remained in custody at the Scott County Jail.

Also arrested was a 16-year-old, whose name is being withheld because of age.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to the call of the stabbing around 3 a.m. Saturday on the 400 block of Sunset. A 21-year-old male had several stab wounds in his upper back, which were not life threatening.

DPS officers and the Scott County Ambulance Service immediately responded to give aid to the victim.

During the investigation, residents at 402 Sunset said they were awakened when the victim beat on their door. They said they answered the door and the victim told them he had been stabbed. The residents apparently had no involvement in the ordeal, but contacted the police at the request of the injured party.

Sikeston detectives also responded to assist in investigating the crime. From their investigation, it is believed the victim was chased by the offenders and then stabbed near West North and Sunset streets, according to the news release. The preliminary investigation led officers to some suspects and interviews were conducted.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact DPS at the CrimeStoppers hotline, 471-1500 or 471-4711.
