Cape Girardeau police have arrested a man in a stabbing that took place Sunday night at a South Lorimier Street apartment.

Police Lt. Carl Kinnison said Jamey L. Chiles, 25, of 135 S. Spanish St. was taken into custody after the stabbing.

He has been charged with domestic assault for an unrelated incident. No one else has been charged in the stabbing.

"It's not as clean cut as it seems," Kinnison said. "We're just trying to filter all the information and get a better idea of what happened."

No information about other victims was released.

The incident, reported by a stabbing victim at an apartment at 124 S. Lorimier St., was predicated by a fight, and officers said.

Some of the people involved in the fight had been drinking alcohol, police said.
