Cape Girardeau Police Department officers Tracy Lemonds and Roger Fields have received promotions.
Lemonds has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant and Roger Fields has been promoted to sergeant. Police Chief Howard H. Boyd announced the promotions, to become effective Monday.
Lemonds, a veteran member of the police department with more than 17 years on the force, has worked in both the patrol and detective divisions.
He was assigned to the patrol division when he became sergeant in 1985. In March of 1986, he was assigned to the detective division, and Lemonds has worked as supervisor of the Scientific Investigation Unit since.
Fields is a six-year veteran of the police department, all in the patrol division. In August 1990, he was assigned to the department's Special Response Team, and last July he was assigned as a shift identification officer, responsible for collecting and preserving evidence at crime scenes.
Both Lemonds and Fields have bachelor's degrees in criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University.
