A police officer and a man suspected in a domestic battery received minor wounds Thursday evening during a scuffle at a home off North Lick Creek Road in Union County, Ill.
According to a news release issued by Union County State's Attorney Allen James, officers of the Union County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois State Police were responding to the domestic battery when the scuffle occurred.
When officers arrived, James said, the suspect was outside his home with guns, threatening to kill himself.
After talking for some time with the suspect, a scuffle ensued involving several Illinois State Police troopers and sheriff's deputies. A gun was discharged, resulting in the injuries, James said.
Names of the suspect and the officers involved were being withheld Thursday night pending further investigation, James said.
