The shooting happened around noon. Police said the man became upset when another driver cut him off. He threatened the other motorist with a handgun, then drove away, striking two cars, police spokesman Donovan Kenton said.

Police heard the commotion and a chase began. The man was stopped in an area surrounded by businesses.

"The suspect was shot by officers when he pointed a weapon in their direction," Police Chief Paul Corbin said.
