Justin D. Roach, 26, of Jackson was charged with first-degree burglary and felony stealing in connection with a Cape Girardeau burglary.

Roach allegedly broke into a home at 1918 Dunklin St. in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday around 12:09 p.m., according to a Cape Girardeau Police Department news release. Roach was still in the home when the owner's son came home. The son then tackled Roach when he attempted to flee and managed to recover some of the items Roach had tried to steal, according to police. In the end Roach was able to flee the scene.

Roach was later identified as the suspect and was in custody Thursday afternoon with a $35,000 bond.
