During the "Click It or Ticket" campaign in May, Cape Girardeau police issued 95 safety belt tickets, four child restraint violations, 108 speeding tickets and 35 tickets for other traffic and moving violations.
The campaign was participated in by law enforcement agencies across the state to promote seat belt and child restraint use. Funding for salary pay was provided by a grant through the Missouri Division of Highway Safety.
Police chief Steve Strong said, "Even as we enforce traffic laws, our officers are also trying to educate the public about the importance of safe and responsible driving."
