Police investigating Union County, Ill., homicide; few details released

Illinois State Police and the Union County, Ill., Sheriff's Department are investigating a Monday night homicide at a Mill Creek home.

Francis "Ray" Beauchamp, 58, was killed at his residence, but few other details can be released, said Capt. Scott Rice of the Illinois State Police.

Rice declined to say how Beauchamp died, the time of the evening when officers were called to the scene or give any other details of the death. "There is really nothing more we can give out," he said.

Investigators are trying to prevent release of information that could jeopardize the investigation, Rice said.

"That stuff will become available," he said. "We just can't release it now."

Mill Creek is along Illinois Highway 127 between Jonesboro and the Alexander County line, Rice said.
