Police investigate suspicious fire

Cape Girardeau police are looking for suspects in a possible arson on Montgomery Street.

About 9:50 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a call about a suspicious fire in the 1700 block of Montgomery Street, said public information officer Darin Hickey.

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department already was on the scene, where officers contacted the property owner, Hickey said.

Firefighters deemed the blaze suspicious because it appeared to have started in several places, he said.
