A Cape Girardeau city jail inmate is accused of assaulting a jailer.
Cape Girardeau Police Department spokesman Darin Hickey said Charlesmen D. Bobo, 22, is charged with second-degree assault on a corrections officer. Hickey said Bobo is accused of punching a jailer several times while he was being put into a cell at about 10 a.m. Thursday. The jailer had serious, but not life-threatening, injuries after the encounter, Hickey said, and was taken to a hospital.
Bobo was in the Cape Girardeau County Jail on Friday with a $25,000 cash-only bond. He was arrested last week on a Cape Girardeau County warrant for failure to appear for traffic violations.
