The parents' U-Haul truck was traveling through Cape Girardeau on I-55 South about 9:20 a.m., according to the email. Police managed to stop the vehicle and investigate.

Two adults were in the front of the U-Haul and an adult and two children were inside the enclosed bed of the truck, according to the email. Police arrested the adults in connection with the incident and took them to the station pending formal charges, the email said.

The two children were taken into custody and released to child welfare officials. The boys were to be picked up by their grandmother, who was given custody of them by a court in Arkansas, according to the email.
