Both were charged with a Class B felony of manufacturing or producing a controlled substance and a Class A misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Curey's bond was set at $25,000, and King's was set at $2,500.

Sgt. Barry Hovis, the public information officer for the police department, said Cape Girardeau police don't find growing operations too often.

"I think back, and we may get growing marijuana plants once or twice a year," he said. "It just doesn't happen very frequently in homes. Maybe in vacant lots here and there, but it's not very often."

Hovis said police found growing lights and a book on how to grow marijuana at the residence.
